Best Fashion Programs in Texas

July 31, 2013 written by FS Staff

TX

What makes a fashion school program “the best” may vary slightly from student to student. A school with affordable tuition may come out on top for some students, while others may place more weight on convenience, class size or student clubs. While these factors (and many others) do hold weight for many students, most college ranking agencies evaluate schools based on factors such as program offerings, faculty resources, graduation and retention rates, financial resources, student selectivity, and peer assessment.

Some factors carry high number of points, while others are assigned just a few points. For example, graduation and retention rates may carry more weight than peer assessment. For some ranking agencies, student selectivity is a good indicator of a competitive program. Once the school has been evaluated based on the factors listed, the scores are calculated to arrive at a final overall score.

While student-evaluated schools may be quite useful during your college search, many students, parents, and respected organizations place a high value on agency generated lists of the nations “Best Schools.” Fortunately, many schools make their way onto both lists, although for different reasons.

The state of Texas is now home to 252 Title IV degree-granting institutions (2013). That’s more than double the national average of 90. Well over a dozen of these schools are home to some of the nation’s best fashion programs. Many are located in major cities such as San Antonio and Houston, while others can be found in smaller cities like Lubbock, Denton, and Nacogdoches.

Take a look at the list below to see which Texas fashion school programs made the list and what they have to offer.
